How Jenna Dewan Tatum Uses Her Essential Oils via SHAPE
...it should really come as no surprise that she's also an avid believer in aromatherapy and essential oils, and strongly believes they have the power to boost your mood and solve pretty much any other problem life throws your way, from a cold to stress to general bad vibes. We sat down with her to talk about her essential oil DIYs (even we had never heard of this one before!)—plus her other hacks to nip stress in the bud.
"I've been a fan of Young Living essential oils for 16 years. My friend got me into them and I was hooked—I noticed a huge difference in my mood when I used them. I use a combination of one to five every day. When I'm really stressed out, I'll use lavender or the tranquil blend. Sometimes I wake up and I just want straight frankincense—it's really protective, it just feels really nurturing in a way, so I use it when I'm going to have a busy day and be around a lot of people. I'll either put the oils on my pressure points—my neck, my wrists, the soles of my feet, my chest, the back of the neck—so that it goes into the bloodstream, or I diffuse them and put them into my baths. I read a lot about the science of scent and what it does to your brain and your neural system. There's actually scientific proof to how scent can affect your whole system, your whole body. So I really believe in it."
